2024 UPS Long Term Recovery Grant - Fall Cycle

 

OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

In partnership with the UPS Foundation, National VOAD is excited to offer a funding opportunity to current National Members actively engaged in Long Term Recovery across the U.S. & territories.

 

ELIGIBILITY

All National VOAD members, including State/Territory VOADs and National Members (National & Associate), who are providing reconstruction services in recovery areas.

 

State/Territory Members 

State/Territory VOAD’s must have 501c3 status or designated fiscal agent to receive funding. Members of State/Territory VOADs are not eligible unless they are an affiliate of a National VOAD member organization. To confirm your affiliation to our National VOAD members, visit our website: https://www.nvoad.org/current-members/

All applicants must have fulfilled all prior National VOAD grant reporting requirements. One application maximum per member. Applications must be submitted by the designated National VOAD Member Representative. 

 

AWARD AMOUNT

Award amount: $5,000.

The National VOAD Review Committee aims to support as many requests as possible; therefore, award amounts are dependent upon the number of applications received.

 

APPLICATION PROCESS 

  • Due to a limited amount of funds we will close the application process once a sufficient number of applications have been received.
  • Submit through our grant funding portal, here. An account must be created to submit a request.
  • Applications from affiliates must be endorsed and/or submitted by the designated National VOAD Member Representative. To confirm you are a member, please visit our website for a list of current National VOAD members:  https://www.nvoad.org/our-members/
  • The application submission must include the following details to be considered (see attached Sample Application):
    • Number of clients to be served (# of individuals, # of families # of households)
    • Demographics of clients to be served, including veteran status 
    • Number of volunteers to be engaged
    • Partner organizations anticipated to be included in project  
    • Project Type (i.e. access ramp, repaired roof, etc.)  
    • Geographic area to be served (City/State funds will be applied)
    • Type of disaster event/year of event

Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria and follow the application instructions above will be disqualified. 

 

REVIEW PROCESS 

All Recovery Grant applications will be evaluated by an Awards Review Committee comprised of member and partner representatives. The Review Committee will determine awards and award amounts.  All applicants will be notified of the award committee’s decision by July 7th.

 

REPORTING REQUIREMENTS 

Grantees will be required to submit the following within  six months of disbursement of funds. 

  • A narrative report including program summary, outcomes, challenges, and the following deliverables:
    • Number of clients served (# of individuals, # of families, # of households)
    • Demographics of clients served, including veteran status  
    • Number of volunteers and hours contributed to project 
    • Partner organizations included in project  
    • Project Type (i.e. access ramp, repaired roof, etc.)  
    • Geographic area served (City/State funds were applied)
    • Type of disaster event/year of event
  • An expense report to include a detailed budget
  • A two-part media clip (a link to a published mention of the grant awarded and individual pictures of the before/after of your grant project) Please anticipate this requirement if awarded.
  • Failure to complete any of the reporting requirements will result in non-eligibility for future grant opportunities.
