2025 Verizon Community Resilience Grant - Fall Cycle
OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
In partnership with Verizon, National VOAD is excited to offer a funding opportunity to current National VOAD Members actively engaged in recovery projects for disasters within the last ten years, prioritizing home repairs and rebuilds and leveraging resilient methods and materials.
ELIGIBILITY
All National VOAD Members, including State/Territory VOAD Members and National Members (National & Associate) providing recovery projects for disasters within the last ten years.
Primary Focus Area:

Resilient Home Repair: Roofs, windows, electrical, plumbing, and other essential repairs
Secondary Focus Area:
-
Volunteer Logistics (as related to recovery efforts): Meals, lodging, equipment, and transport to ensure safe deployments

Rebuilding Infrastructure: Schools, health centers, shelters rebuilt with resilience upgrades (elevation, energy efficiency, accessibility)

State/Territory VOAD Members
State/Territory VOAD Members must have 501c3 status or designated fiscal agent to receive funding.
Only a submission from the State/Territory VOAD on behalf of unaffiliated members will be considered.
All applicants must be in good standing and have fulfilled all prior National VOAD grant reporting requirements.
One application maximum per member.
Applications must be submitted by the designated National VOAD Member Representative.
AWARD AMOUNT
Award amount: $50,000 - $300,000
The National VOAD Grant Review Committee aims to support as many of the priority areas as possible, therefore award amounts are dependent upon the number of applications received.
APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications eligible for consideration must be submitted by Wednesday, November 26th.
Submit through our grant funding portal, here. An account must be created to submit a request.
The application submission must include the following details to be considered:
- Number of beneficiaries to be served (# of estimated individuals, # of estimated families, # of estimated households)
- Demographics of beneficiaries to be served, including veteran status
- Number of volunteers to be engaged
- Number of volunteer hours anticipated to be contributed to project
- Partner organizations anticipated to be included in project
- Anticipated resilience methods to be utilized in project
- Anticipated resilient based materials to be incorporated in project
- Project Type (i.e. access ramp, repaired roof, etc.)
- Geographic area to be served (City/State funds will be applied)
- Type of disaster event/year of event
Applications that do not meet the eligibility criteria and follow the application instructions above will be disqualified.
REVIEW PROCESS
All grant applications will be reviewed by a Grant Review Committee composed of member and partner representatives. The committee along with National VOAD HQ will determine awards and award amounts. All applicants will be notified of the award committee’s decision by Tuesday, December 23rd.
Additional consideration may be given to proposals that demonstrate innovative or strategic business integration ideas that improve communication, safety, or access to connectivity for residents and community infrastructure.
REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
Grantees will be required to submit the following within six months of disbursement of funds: an interim report, monthly financial tracking and a final report.
- A narrative report including program summary, outcomes, challenges, and the following deliverables:
- Number of beneficiaries served (# of individuals, # of families, # of households)
- Demographics of beneficiaries served, including veteran status
- Number of volunteers engaged
- Number of hours contributed to project
- Partner organizations included in project
- Resilience methods utilized
- Resilient based materials incorporated
- Project Type (i.e. access ramp, repaired roof, etc.)
- Geographic area served (City/State funds were applied)
- Type of disaster event/year of event
- Lessons Learned & Impact/Success Stories
- An expense report to include a detailed/itemized budget.
- A media report to include: (Please anticipate this requirement if awarded)
- A link to a published mention of the grant awarded
- Links to any media coverage of the grant project
- Individual photos/video of the before/after of your grant project
- Availability of project beneficiary and/or project lead(s) for interviews and collaboration on marketing storytelling content.
Failure to complete any of the reporting requirements will result in non-eligibility for future grant opportunities
